The Red Sox have a new head honcho in charge, and that man’s name is Alex Cora. This will be Dave Dombrowski’s first managerial hire with the Red Sox. Cora was seen as the best candidate on the market, and the Red Sox got their man. The other two finalists were former Detroit Tigers manager, Brad Ausmus and former Twins manager who now manages the Detroit Tigers, Ron Gardenhire. The Sox went with the inexperienced but well-regarded option. Cora is bilingual and on top of that, everyone raves about his communication skills which at times, this team lacked with old skipper John Farrell.

Alex Cora takes over a very talented group. This club features some of the greatest young talents around the game such as Mookie Betts, Andrew Benintendi, Xander Bogaerts, and Rafael Devers. Oh yeah, and they have 2 former Cy Young award winners, in David Price and Porcello, and a future Cy Young award winner in Chris Sale, along with arguably the best closer in all of baseball, Craig Kimbrel. It’s going to be difficult to manage in Boston, but Alex Cora seems ready for the challenge. Dave Dombrowski is well aware of what this club needs in order to take them to the next level and it all started with a new manager. The Red Sox have that now, so what’s next. A power hitter? Another starting pitcher? A second baseman? Changes are already underway. Could we see Giancarlo Stanton in a Red Sox uniform? How about J.D. Martinez? I wonder who will be next to join the AL East winning Boston Red Sox. Stay in the know. This off-season is going to be a good one.
